Chilly Weekend

I had the pleasure of hosting one of my oldest friends and her husband this weekend.  It was so much fun showing them around, especially around our neighborhood.  So naturally, we had to take them to one of our favorite places for brunch.  This is our old faithful spot where you can always rely on the food and drinks to be amazing and a place where guests are sure to love, Sanfords.  The temperature dropped and the wind also picked up this past weekend which is the reason for all the layers.  I crocheted a few hats when I lived in LA but my friend, Shamika's hat was just too cute and now I am on a quest to find one that fits!

Giving Thanks

This year I got to spend Thanksgiving with my boyfriends family.  The house was filled with lot of food and family which is always a good time.  It is great to surround yourself with a family that is full of love and have welcomed me with open arms.  In addition, it was my first time trying candied yams and now it is my favorite thanksgiving dish, along with the Turkey of course.

Black & White

I hope everyone enjoyed Veteran's Day.  Luckily I had the day off and the weather was beautiful.  I headed out to the Guggenheim Museum to see the Picasso Black & White Exhibit.  At the same time, I decided to go with black leather leggings and a black and white striped blouse.  This blouse has been in heavy rotation for the last few months.  It goes well with so many items in my closet.  Threw on a comfy blazer and an infinity scarf to keep warm and I was on my way.

Comfort

Atomic Fire Balls
The Perfect Storm

Fried Chicken & Homemade Waffle
With all the erratic weather in NY in the last few weeks, it was nice to have a warm day this weekend.  These sixty degrees days may not last long so I took full advantage and headed outside.  The cowl sweater was just warm enough and the faux fur vest added extra warmth for when the sun starts to set.  I love my purple heels which are surprisingly one of my most comfortable heels.  I wore this to find discover a new place for brunch at the Queens Comfort.  This BYOB spot is truly a neighborhood gem.  Its cozy atmosphere and pleasant staff are very welcoming and they even play classic wrestling on a projector screen!  I highly recommend the atomic fire balls which are little fried balls of mac and cheese topped with sriracha sauce.

Celebration

So my test center was open and my test wasn't rescheduled.  In the end, it worked out better because I was ready to get it over with.  So after three excruciating hours of testing, I was ready to go out.  This is one of those dresses that you put on and it automatically makes you feel good!  I love the color and the fit.    Threw on an off-white trench and I was ready for a night on the town.

Halloween Spirit

Sorry its been so long since my last post, everyday after work, i've been studying for a big test that I had planned to take this Friday and then, unfortunately, NY had a visit from Hurricane Sandy.  Luckily, all my family and friends are all okay and Astoria didn't have too much damage.  My heart goes out to all those families who suffered losses in this disaster.  Being originally from Miami, I am used to hurricanes but never expected to experience them here in NY.  So now, I will be rescheduling my exam and hopefully be able to get that over with soon.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I have had to work from home and without realizing, I hadn't left home in three days.  So today, I headed to my favorite deli, European Deli on 31st street, and wore orange in honor of Halloween.  Didn't get the opportunity to partake in any costume parties this year but the least I could do was get in the spirit.  It was great seeing parents walking their kids in their costumes gathering candy.
